Ideas floated for river city's revamp

PASSENGERS would take ferries into the heart of Parramatta under plans to revitalise the city and its riverfront by allowing vessels to travel a further 400 metres up Parramatta River.

A new urban design strategy publicly exhibited this week proposes demolishing the council's riverside car park and excavating the land where it sits to carve out ''Parramatta Quay'', a new bay big enough for ferries to turn around that would form a key part of plans to regenerate Sydney's second largest business district.
